Discover Thai Square Sushi

Walking into Thai Square Sushi feels like stepping into a place that understands what everyday diners actually want: comforting flavors, consistent quality, and a menu that gives you plenty of choices without overwhelming you. Located at 1012 E US Hwy 80 Ste J, Forney, TX 75126, United States, this spot has quietly built a loyal following among locals who crave both Thai comfort food and well-prepared sushi without the downtown price tag or fuss.

The first time I stopped by, it was during a busy weekday lunch. The dining room filled up quickly, which usually tells me two things-either the food is reliable, or the portions are generous. In this case, it was both. I ordered a classic pad thai alongside a salmon avocado roll, expecting one to outshine the other. Instead, both held their own. The noodles were balanced, not overly sweet, and the sushi rice was properly seasoned, something the Japanese Culinary Academy emphasizes as essential to good sushi preparation.

What stands out in the menu is the range. You’ll find Thai staples like green curry, basil stir-fry, and tom yum soup alongside familiar sushi rolls, sashimi, and nigiri. This combination works because the kitchen treats each cuisine with respect rather than blending them into something confusing. According to the National Restaurant Association, diners increasingly prefer restaurants that specialize in fewer concepts but execute them well, and this place seems to follow that philosophy naturally.

During another visit, I watched a server explain spice levels to a first-time guest. The staff didn’t rush the conversation, instead describing how Thai chilies affect heat differently than chili oil or pepper flakes. That kind of explanation reflects real knowledge, not scripted answers. Research published by the Journal of Foodservice Business Research shows that informed service significantly improves customer trust and repeat visits, and it’s easy to see that principle in action here.

The sushi preparation process is visible enough to inspire confidence. Fish is handled carefully, portions are consistent, and rolls aren’t overloaded with sauce to mask quality. The FDA’s guidelines on raw fish handling stress proper temperature control and cleanliness, and while diners can’t see the kitchen operations in full, the freshness and texture suggest solid practices. That’s especially important for families or anyone cautious about eating raw seafood.

Reviews from local diners often highlight reliability. One regular I spoke with mentioned that they order takeout at least twice a month because the flavors stay consistent, even when dining at home. That matches my own experience. The packaging keeps hot items warm and sushi intact, which isn’t always easy. In a real-world test, I ordered delivery during a rainy evening, and the rolls arrived neatly arranged, rice still firm, fish still cool.

Portion sizes lean toward generous without feeling excessive. A single entrée can easily serve as leftovers, which adds value without sacrificing quality. Pricing stays reasonable compared to similar restaurants in nearby areas, making it a practical choice for families, coworkers, or casual date nights. While the location may not have the flash of bigger dining districts, its accessibility off US Highway 80 makes it easy to reach.

There are some limitations worth noting. During peak dinner hours, wait times can stretch a bit, and the dining room isn’t large. However, the staff usually manages expectations clearly, which helps avoid frustration. For anyone planning a visit, arriving slightly earlier or opting for takeout can be a smart move.

Overall, the experience here feels grounded and honest. From the thoughtful menu to the attentive service and consistent execution, this restaurant earns its reputation through everyday excellence rather than hype. Whether you’re exploring Thai flavors for the first time or just want sushi you can trust, this spot delivers a dependable, satisfying meal that keeps people coming back.

  • Great experience! The atmosphere is very nice...dimly lit overall, low volume music, not overly large, with a couple focal points being the bubble wall and sushi glass case. The service is excellent, helping with the menu and also explaining what was what when the food arrived. The food was a beautiful presentation and tasted just as great as it looked! They have a large menu, we ordered 3 different Specialty Rolls (Coconut, Sunny and Angry Dragon) and the Lover Boat for 2, which came with Miso Soup. All of us were impressed with the quality and taste of everything we ordered! They even surprised my son with a Birthday Fried Ice Cream!

  • The service was great, absolutely no issues. The atmosphere was a little too dim, but I don't think it subtracted from the experience. Some sushi rolls are priced great, some seem a little high. The basic rolls have good flavor. I got the rainbow roll from the premium menu, it was ok. The fish eggs on top seemed messy to me, and when I went to pick it up, there was a 50% chance it was going to fall apart. Would I return? If in the area, yes, simply because the service was great. Oh yeah, good music too.

  • My family's FAVORITE local restaurant. We came here this evening for my birthday, my kids literally beg for us to bring them here. We highly recommend the yellowtail jalapeño for an appetizer. We always order two angry dragon rolls, and the coconut roll. They do buy two rolls get one free Sunday - Thursday. The steak hibachi and sweet and sour salmon is to die for as well!
